Literature Text

Right then and there I am stuck
I stare after my one true love.
He is leaving me tonight
He has to go away.

I kiss him one last time
I give him a hug, too.
I don't want him to leave,
He has to pry my arms off of him.

He holds me arms length away
Looking into my big brown eyes.
He tells me that he loves me,
I start to cry.

Tears tumble down my cheeks
And drop onto my green sweater.
Leaving a big wet mark for all to see.

He walks away from me,
Without looking back.
I only wish he would,
To reassure me one last time.

The echoing of his shoes
Is all I hear for days on end.
I can't bear the thought of being alone.
My mind is scattered without him.

It's been six months
He should be home.
The lock clicks and the door opens.
I whip around at the sound.

He came home.
He is here in my arms keeping me warm.
Keeping me safe.
I want never to see him leave again.
Very first poem I wrote for my Intro to Poetry class.

Thanks. At the time I wrote it, I wasn't really feeling the emotions in the poem. But now I am, my guy left for military training, and came back to see our baby born, but then he left again. I can't wait til he comes home again.
